Travel and Stay

Black Butte Lake is located about 13 miles West of Orland, CA.  Most race participants camp at the park due to its proximity to the race start/finish area.  The campgrounds at Black Butte are situated near the lake, offer running water & flush toilets, and are a great base of operations for all participants.  The park offers a number of activities to make it an excellent weekend for participants as well as family and friends including boating, fishing, hiking, and an 18 hole frisbee disc golf course.

Camping at Black Butte Lake

There are two primary campgrounds at Black Butte Lake.  Want to stay directly at the race site?  Camp out at Buckhorn Campgrounds and be right in the middle of the action.  Be sure to book a site here quickly though, it is always sold out on race weekend.  Okay with being further away?   Additional camping is available at the Orland Buttes campground, adjacent to the southeastern side of the lake and a short drive to and from all race activities. All campground reservations must be placed through the Park's central reservation service: Reserve Buckhorn Campsites Here and Reserve Orland Buttes Campsites Here.     Please note: race organizers are not responsible for nor coordinate the reservation services for the campgrounds at Black Butte Lake.
