The details below pertain to the 2018 race.
Updates for 2019 will be posted here when they’re available.


Race packets can be picked up Friday September 14th from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at the Black Butte Lake Campground campsite number 8 (this is also the location for the awards ceremony). Packets will also be available race day beginning at 7:00 AM at race HQ (see overview maps below). Per USAT rules, a photo ID and a USAT membership card or number are required. Registrants without proof of USAT membership will be required to purchase a one day license.

Park Entry

Race organizers have arranged for free entry into the park on race day for racers and volunteers.


The transition area opens at 7:00 AM. No overnight bike storage is permitted. Transition will be broken down after the race by 2:00 PM. Participants are encouraged to remove their bikes before attending the awards ceremony. Only participants will be allowed in the transition area.


The awards ceremony for the Sprint Tri, Duathlon, and Sprint Tri Relay will be held at about 11:00 AM. Awards for the Olympic Triathlon and Olympic Tri Relay will be held at about 1:00 PM. Award ceremonies will take place in the campground just above the race venue (see overview maps below). Participants are encouraged to remove their bikes and gear from transition before attending the awards ceremony.

Post race Beer and bbq

All participants and their guests are invited to attend a free post race BBQ presented by the Chico Triathlon Club. The BBQ will be held at the group camping area (see overview maps below). Beer will be available for those 21 years and older.
