The 2025 Black Butte TriAthlon HaS BEEN Cancelled

It is with a heavey heart that we must inform you that, due to a staffing shortage caused by budget issues, Black Butte Lake has been temporarily closed. The closure has left no other option but to cancel the Black Butte Triathlon for 2025.

Please be patient as the team works to refund those who have already signed up.

Black Butte Triathlon 2026 has been tentatively scheduled for June 20, 2026. We hope to race with you again soon. Thank you for your understanding.

The Black Butte Triathlon in tentatively scheduled for Saturday June 20 2026. Events will include an Olympic Distance Triathlon, a Sprint Distance Triathlon, and a Sprint Duathlon. All events will be USAT Sanctioned. The race is managed by the Chico Triathlon Club.
